TERRI RIVERO, BS, AISS, NSCA-CPT
Terri Rivero graduated from UT Chattanooga with a degree in Exercise Science. During her final years at UT she began competing in Aerobic Gymnastics (Federation International Gymnastique, FIG). Her competitive career led her throughout the USA, Canada, Asia, Europe and South America.
Sixteen years of hard work and passion for the sport earned her many titles. These include: 4x Women’s Individual National Aerobic Gymnastic Champion, 3x World Aerobic Gymnastic Champion Medalist, Female Individual International Champion-Argentina, Female Individual Champion- Hungary, and Female Individual Silver Medalist-Austria. Terri and her trio team took the silver medal at the World Championships in the summer of 2003.
Terri recently came out of retirement in 2010 to finish her journey in Aerobic Gymnastics. Before retiring from the sport in the summer of 2012, she was able to compete in the US Nationals, as well as represent the USA in Hungary, Japan and Bulgaria. Her final competition was in Las Vegas at the USA Nationals and international competition. This is where she ended her 18 year career with a Silver medal at the USA Nationals. She left behind a legacy of what the human spirit is possible of doing.
During Terri’s competitive career she has been invited to perform at many local and International events in locations such as Bogotá, Columbia; Sao Paulo, Brazil and Cancun, Mexico. She has conducted master classes and many race warm-ups for fund raising events and has had the opportunity to appear in info-commercials for Dasani Water.
Furthering her competitive edge, Terri has also broadened her sport repertoire to include Outrigger Canoe Paddling and CrossFit. In 2008, Terri began actively racing outriggers in Hawaii and has since competed in many world famous events, such as the Molokai Channel Crossing. Her first CrossFit competition in the winter of 2011, landed her in third place in the NorCal 40-49 Class.
Leveraging her broad experience and varied athletic interests, Terri now coaches other athletes. She also includes in her busy schedule teaching group exercise classes, personal training and Active Isolated Stretching.
Terri has worked in the Health and Fitness Industry for more than 25 years and has held numerous positions: National Spinning Presenter, Reebok Master Trainer, Exercise Physiologist, Group Exercise Director, Spinning Coordinator, and Fitness Director.
In recent years, her continuing education in AIS (Active Isolated Stretching), RNT (Reactive Neuromuscular Training) and FMS (Functional Movement Screening) has allowed her to create focused personal training programs. She uses her coaching and education to make a profound difference in people’s lives.
